Comedone Extraction

Comedone extraction removes contents from suitable blocked pores. Options are per lesion or full face up to 50 lesions. The lesions are assessed first, and the listed Mummy finishing step follows extraction.

Who it’s for

  • People wanting selected blackheads or whiteheads assessed
  • Those with comedones across several facial areas
  • People checking whether a bump is suitable for removal before squeezing at home

Full face still means up to 50 lesions. It does not include automatic removal of every bump or deep inflammatory lesion.

How it works

Extraction physically clears suitable contents at a blocked pore opening. Lesion depth and an accessible opening matter, and excessive pressure should be avoided. It does not permanently change sebum production or every cause of pore blockage.

THE MECHANISM, STEP BY STEP

  • 01Identify comedones

Distinguish blackheads and whiteheads from other lesions.

  • 02Agree the scope

Choose individual lesions or full face up to 50.

  • 03Control pressure

Do not repeatedly force a resistant lesion.

  • 04Protect afterward

Finish with the listed Mummy step and advise against picking.

Treatment areas

Nose and chin
Separate normal sebaceous filaments from comedones.
Forehead and cheeks
White bumps such as milia can require another approach.

What the procedure is like

  1. 1Assess lesion type, count and any scarring or pigmentation history.
  2. 2Prepare hygienically and extract suitable lesions within the agreed scope.
  3. 3Finish with Mummy care and explain which areas to leave alone while healing.

The number, location and difficulty of suitable lesions determine the time needed.

Recovery & aftercare

  • Small red marks or crusts may occur; do not pick or squeeze them again.
  • Report increasing pain, swelling, pus or spreading redness.

What to expect over time

A general guide to how the days and months after treatment usually unfold. Results vary by individual.

  1. Immediately after

Local redness or mild tenderness may remain.

  2. Surface recovery

Reduce irritation and allow crusts to detach naturally.

  3. Recurrence review

Use the pattern of new comedones to adjust prevention and repeat care.

Sessions & results

Removing blocked contents does not make pores disappear. Normal pore structures and deep lesions should not be aggressively pursued.

Safety & considerations

Possible reactions

  • Local redness, tenderness or pinpoint bleeding
  • Infection, scarring or post-inflammatory pigmentation

Review before care

  • Previous persistent marks or scarring
  • Retinoids, recent peels and medicines affecting bleeding

Repeated pressure on a deep painful lesion may worsen damage. A resistant lesion may require another treatment.

Your care at QD Clinic

  • Suitability before count

Do not force extractions merely to reach the maximum.

  • Protect each site

Avoid excessive repeat pressure when contents appear to remain.

  • Review recurrence

Consider new-lesion patterns alongside products and medication.

Frequently asked questions

  • No. The stated maximum is 50 lesions, and fewer may be appropriate depending on the skin and suitability of each lesion. Rather than filling the limit, only lesions that can safely be removed are chosen. Deep inflammation and other types of bump are assessed separately.

  • Some are normal sebaceous filaments. Repeated squeezing to remove all visible dots may cause irritation; identify true blackheads first. Clearing the contents does not make the pore itself disappear, so dots on the nose may become visible again over time.

  • Milia and closed comedones can be different lesions requiring different methods. Inclusion and any separate treatment are decided after assessment. On the forehead and cheeks, other lesions can be mixed among similar-looking white bumps, so each one is identified before extraction.

  • It is the finishing-stage name recorded in the clinic menu. The specific product and application are explained at the visit rather than inferred from that name. Home care is covered at the same time, including not touching extraction sites or picking off crusts.

  • Pressing the same site again can increase injury, inflammation and scarring. Leave it alone and have the residual lesion reassessed at your next visit. If swelling, pain or pus increases, or redness spreads, contact the clinic without waiting for that appointment.

How many days should I stay?

Surgery and course-based treatments need a check-up. We tell you before you book whether that means staying longer or coming back another time.
