Nose Contouring Injection + Nostril BotoxGangnam, Seoul

Nose Contouring Injection + Nostril Botox is an option combining an injection that refines the contour around the nose (nose contouring injection) with nostril Botox, which reduces nostril flaring when you smile, in a single visit. It is a non-surgical injection treatment that leaves the bone and cartilage that shape the nose as they are. The medication and ingredients used for the nose contouring injection are confirmed with the product itself during your consultation. At QD Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea, consultation helps determine which options suit your concerns.

Who it’s for

  • The nasal tip or the area around the nostrils looks blunt and you want to refine the contour
  • Nostril flaring when you smile also bothers you
  • You want to try injections first, without nose surgery

Raising the height of the nose or straightening a crooked nose is a matter for filler or surgery. This option doesn’t create such changes.

How it works

This option splits the work in two — contour is handled by the nose contouring injection, movement by nostril Botox. The nose contouring injection is placed in the areas around the nose you want to refine, while nostril Botox places a small amount of botulinum toxin into the small muscle on the side of the nostril to reduce the force that flares the nostrils sideways when you smile. One addresses the contour at rest and the other the widening with movement, so when both concerns are present, they are planned together. The medication for the nose contouring injection works differently depending on the product, so the medication used and the range of results you can expect are explained during your consultation based on that product.

THE MECHANISM, STEP BY STEP

  • 01The role of each injection

The nose contouring injection handles contour, and nostril Botox handles movement. Even on the same day, the injection points and purposes differ, so they are marked separately.

  • 02The nose contouring medication

For the medication used in the nose contouring injection, we show you the product name and ingredients during your consultation and explain that product’s approved uses and precautions.

  • 03Where nostril Botox goes

A very small amount is placed over the small muscle on the side of the nostril. It is close to the muscle that lifts the upper lip, so we keep the point narrow and toward the nostril.

  • 04How to compare the change

Contour is compared with photos from the front and from below, and the nostrils with photos of you smiling. The two changes come at different times, so photos are kept separately.

Treatment areas

Discuss at consultation
If the nose looks wide because of its bone and cartilage structure, injections make little difference, so we first distinguish the structure from the tissue above it by touch.
Medical assessment
If you recently had nose filler or nose surgery, the injection points and timing must be considered separately, so we always ask about your procedure history.
Before treatment
Nostril movement is also used for breathing, so we check whether you usually have a blocked nose or rhinitis.

What the procedure is like

  1. 1Examination and checking procedure history
  2. 2Marking the nose contouring and nostril Botox points separately
  3. 3Nose contouring injection
  4. 4A small amount of Botox into the nostril muscle
  5. 5Pressure, then aftercare guidance before you leave

The two injections are given one after the other. The total time depends on the examination, so it will be explained when you visit.

Recovery & aftercare

  • You can go about your day as usual on the same day, but don’t press or rub the area around your nose firmly.
  • For a few days, cut down on positions that press on the nose, such as wearing heavy glasses for long periods or sleeping face down.
  • If redness or swelling grows or pain worsens, contact us right away.

What to expect over time

A general guide to how the days and months after treatment usually unfold. Results vary by individual.

  1. Same day Swelling and redness

The area around the nose may look briefly swollen or red.

  2. A few days later Change in nostril movement

With nostril Botox, flaring when you smile decreases over several days.

  3. About 2 weeks Looking at both

Around the time the swelling subsides and the Botox settles, we look at contour and movement together. (Results vary from person to person.)

  4. After that Next steps decided separately

The next nose contouring session and when to repeat nostril Botox are each decided separately, based on each change.

Sessions & results

The effect of nostril Botox is temporary, so once movement returns, you decide whether to have it again. The number of nose contouring sessions and the interval between them depend on the medication used and your response, and are explained during your consultation. (Results vary from person to person.)

Your care at QD Clinic

  • Separating the concerns

We hear which bothers you more: the contour at rest or the nostril movement when you smile.

  • Checking structure

We feel the bone, cartilage and overlying tissue of the nose, and check your previous nose procedure history.

  • Planning both injections

The points for the nose contouring injection and for nostril Botox are set separately and carried out in one visit.

Frequently asked questions

  • In the treatment room you can see the actual product used for the nose contouring injection and check its name and ingredients. If a contouring injection has ever made you swell up or itch, try to remember that product’s name and tell us. We also explain that product’s approved uses, its precautions and the range of change you can expect, all based on that product.

  • This option is for having both together. If nostril movement is your only concern, you can consult us separately about Special-Area Botox (nostrils). Nostril Botox only reduces movement when you smile and does not change the shape at rest, so the deciding point is whether the contour around your nose is also a concern.

  • Where filler has been placed, the injection points and timing must be considered separately. Tell us when and which product you had, and we will first tell you whether it is possible on that basis. If you have had nose surgery, we likewise ask about your treatment history first, and if this is planned alongside nose filler, we set the order and interval between the two.

  • The bone and cartilage stay the same, so the shape of your nose won’t change dramatically. It’s more accurate to expect changes such as the area around the nose looking less blunt and the nostrils flaring less when you smile. Raising the height of the nose or straightening a crooked nose is a matter for filler or surgery. The result is checked at about 2 weeks, when swelling has gone down and the Botox has settled, by looking at contour and movement together.

  • The nose pads of glasses can press on the injection points, so for a few days we recommend wearing light glasses or wearing them for shorter periods. If you can wear contact lenses, that is more comfortable. For a few days, please also limit positions that press on the nose, such as sleeping face down, and contact us right away if redness or swelling increases or pain gets worse.
