Partial-incision Ptosis Correction
Limited incisions provide access to selected eyelid tissues. Assessment distinguishes what can be addressed through small openings from conditions requiring wider exposure.

Who it’s for
- People comparing buried-suture and incisional options
- People exploring whether limited tissue access can address their concern
- People who want to understand the restrictions of shorter incisions
Assessment includes eyelid height, opening strength, brow position and eye closure. A photograph or procedure name cannot determine suitability; another approach or observation may be advised after examination.
How it works
Partial incisions access selected segments of the eyelid rather than the entire planned crease. A shorter incision does not establish a standard correction or recovery time for everyone. Skin, fat and opening function determine whether limited access allows adequate assessment and adjustment. Extensive skin management or scar release may require a wider approach.
THE MECHANISM, STEP BY STEP
01Tissues requiring limited direct access
Assess eyelid thickness, skin excess and muscle function.
02Skin, fat and functional adjustment
Discuss the incision segments, correction and circumstances requiring wider access.
03Possible wider access and fixation stability
Check height, crease and closure after adjustment and explain care of each incision.
Treatment areas
- Eyelid assessment
- Tissues requiring limited direct access
- Surgical approach
- Skin, fat and functional adjustment
- Recovery and follow-up
- Possible wider access and fixation stability
What the procedure is like
- 1Assess eyelid thickness, skin excess and muscle function.
- 2Discuss the incision segments, correction and circumstances requiring wider access.
- 3Check height, crease and closure after adjustment and explain care of each incision.
Anaesthesia, surgical scope and expected duration are agreed after an in-person examination. Arrange the day of surgery, transport home and follow-up together.
Recovery & aftercare
- Small incisions can still develop scarring, firmness, bruising and swelling. Healing and fixation are reviewed individually rather than predicting recovery from incision length alone.
- Check swelling, bruising, closure, dryness and wound healing. Follow the individual instructions for cooling and washing, and avoid rubbing the eyes.
- Wound review and any suture removal depend on the approach. Contact lenses, eye makeup and exercise resume according to wound and ocular-surface assessment.
What to expect over time
A general guide to how the days and months after treatment usually unfold. Results vary by individual.
Early recovery
Check swelling, bruising, closure, dryness and wound healing. Follow the individual instructions for cooling and washing, and avoid rubbing the eyes.
Review appointments
Wound review and any suture removal depend on the approach. Contact lenses, eye makeup and exercise resume according to wound and ocular-surface assessment.
Settling
Lid height and crease appearance can change as swelling settles. Follow-up compares function and symmetry rather than judging the final result immediately.

How it compares

| Comparison | Partial-incision Ptosis Correction | Incisional Ptosis Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Scope of correction | Limited incisions provide access to selected eyelid tissues. Assessment distinguishes what can be addressed through small openings from conditions requiring wider exposure. | An incision allows assessment of the structures involved in eyelid opening. Skin, fat and eye closure guide planning of lid height and the crease. |
| Recovery and follow-up | Small incisions can still develop scarring, firmness, bruising and swelling. Healing and fixation are reviewed individually rather than predicting recovery from incision length alone. | Protect the incision from rubbing and tension. Suture review follows wound healing; early swelling can make the crease look high or uneven, so both function and scarring are followed. |
Safety & considerations
Possible reactions
- Swelling, bruising, bleeding, infection and scarring at incision or suture sites are possible.
- Overcorrection, undercorrection, asymmetry, crease changes, recurrence and further correction are discussed.
- Incomplete closure, dry eyes, corneal irritation and, rarely, complications affecting vision can occur.
Before surgery
- Report previous eyelid or forehead surgery, eye conditions, contact-lens use and dryness.
- Discuss medicines, supplements, bleeding disorders, allergies and smoking; do not stop prescribed medicines yourself.
Sudden vision changes, severe pain or rapidly increasing one-sided swelling require immediate contact with the medical team or emergency care. Correction, scars and recovery vary between individuals.

Frequently asked questions
The name does not define a fixed number or length of incisions. Access depends on the tissues that need assessment, available skin and opening function. Another approach may be chosen if small openings cannot provide adequate correction. The proposed access and what it can achieve should be discussed before surgery.
Having a small incision does not guarantee a particular duration of fixation. Tissue thickness, elasticity, fixation and habits can affect the course. A later change in height or crease requires assessment of which structure has changed. Counselling focuses on suitability and possible further correction rather than a durability promise.
Limited openings may not allow sufficient assessment or adjustment in some conditions. Marked adhesions or more skin excess than expected may require reconsideration. Possibilities and alternatives are discussed beforehand and decisions follow the agreed consent. Necessary tissue assessment is not omitted simply to keep the incision short.
Early swelling and healing tissue can make a small incision feel firm. Different rates of settling may temporarily alter the crease or lid height. Increasing redness, warmth, pain or difficulty closing should not be assumed to be routine recovery. Review of the wounds and fixation determines observation or further care.

How many days should I stay?
Surgery and course-based treatments need a check-up. We tell you before you book whether that means staying longer or coming back another time.
